The Ironic Nomination

Dear, sweet Sleepy Joe has nominated me for an award! Tangled Lou of Periphery has sung her praises here and I will merely  add to what she said: Yes. I agree. Yes, yes and yes. It is all true. Go and visit her. Right now.

I have received a few awards before. Most Original Costume, for instance, which was well-deserved. In this case, however, the award I have been nominated for is the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award, which is somewhat ironic because, upon receipt, I smiled pleasantly at my nomination and forgot to thank Sleepy Joe, reply to her comment or follow up by following the rules.

A wonderful team member is perhaps not the best descriptor for me that anyone has ever chosen.

That said, I do have some remarkably wonderful readers, without whom I would simply go back to doing Pilates in the mornings rather than stamping out words. No one wants that and so I thank these dear souls, truly, for their willingness to read my silly blog and, even more so, for boldly writing their own.

Here are the Rules

1. The Nominee of the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award will display the logo on his/her post/page and/or sidebar.

2. Over a period of 7 days (1 week), the Nominee shall nominate a number of readers that he or she appreciates – this can be done at any rate during the week. It can be all on one day or a few on one day and a few on another day, as most convenient to the Nominee.

3. The Nominee shall name his or her Wonderful Team Member Readership Award nominees on a post or on posts during the 7 day (1 week) period. (Warning: I can already tell I'm going to forget this. Can we agree that it's not because I don't appreciate you, but because I write at 5 AM when all I can do is slap my random thoughts onto a Blogger page? No hard feelings?)

Now for the good part. Hear ye! Hear ye! I nominate the following bloggers for this award. (You probably have it already. Consider it a compliment and do whatever you wish. We are all, always and interminably free.)

Bronwyn at "B" Stings

Margi at The M Half of the M-n-J Show

Jewels at Frazzled & Frumpy

Larissa at Papa is a Preacher

Kathy at The Giggling Trucker's Wife

Jo at My Wandering Mind

Lorinda J. Taylor of Ruminations of a Remembrancer

The nominees all are supposed to have to answer these questions. (But, really, who can make them?)

1) Why do you blog?

I hadn't actively written for years when I took up blogging. I did it so that I would have a place and reason to write. I had no idea anyone would read me but my personal friends.

2) If you were trapped on a desert island, what book, DVD, food, cartoon character, and childhood game would you bring?

If I were trapped on a desert island, I would be reading Pilgrim at Tinker Creek while watching The Best of Stephen Colbert. (Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not a good combination.) I would need tamales with guacamole, and Wonder Woman and I could play Truth or Dare. (Honestly, I've hated games all my life and rarely watched TV. I'm not very good at this.) Can we just sit quietly and chat?

3) Share a funny joke or one-liner.

My middle son, Devin, made this one up in third grade:

"What do ninjas like to drink?"

"Waaaaa-taaaaaa!"

Hilarious.

4) What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My commitment to those I love. (And my collection of knee socks.)

5) What one word best describes you?

Asynchronous

6) If you could have a lifetime supply of any candy/candy bar, what would it be?

If I ate even a few pieces of candy, I would likely fall into a gastrointestinal coma and have to be shot. Otherwise, truffles.

7) What fictional character do you relate to most?

Bilbo Baggins

8) If you were to write the story of your life, what would you call it?

Ummm, this is awkward since I am writing just such a book. I have called it The Tidal Zone. If it weren't called that, I would have called it You Can't Even Make This Shit Up

Tag! You're it.

  1. Hi, Tara! I just ran across this in my subscriptions on Blogger! Thanks, I appreciate it! Like you, I don't consider myself a team player - in fact, I'm totally not a team player (awful at working with groups of people, like committees). I prefer to just talk one-on-one, too! And I have to ask you this, are you sure you picked the right blog to nominate? Conlangs of a Remembrancer is my very specialized conlanging blog and it's limited in interest. And it isn't even structured to put images in the sidebar. You sure you didn't mean Ruminations of a Remembrancer? http://termitewriter.blogspot.com Or Labors of Ki'shto'ba Huge-Head? http://termitespeaker.blogspot.com
And I doubt I can answer this in a week. I'm wrapped up in promoting my first publishing anniversary. I've got a free book offer on the Ruminations blog.

    1. Oops! I thought that wasn't the right name. I was looking for Ruminations and clicked a link to Conlangs instead. I updated with the correct blog. :)

    2. Oh, and you are honestly never obligated to do anything, Lorinda. It's just intended as a compliment and you can feel free to ignore it if you need. Or to forget about it for a ridiculous period of time, as I did...;)

    3. Oh, that's better! Using my general blog makes more sense, although I'd never mind if people visit Conlangs of a Remembrancer and investigate my languages! And I will accept, although I've done a couple of these lately and I'm beginning to run out of people to nominate! There are a million deserving blogs out there, I know, but I'm just not familiar with them. And it will take some thought to answer this array of questions!

  2. Oh goodness. I am flattered and feeling a tad overwhelmed, as these awards usually leave me..

Thank you, Tara! And I'm off to lose sleep and concentration trying to figure out how to answer those questions ... oh my..
